Ferrari and Rodriguez were returning from a youth wrestling event that took place at Cushing High School. They were driving in a 2009 Dodge Durango on State Highway 33 when Ferrari struck a 2007 Chevy pick head-on. The incident happened at around 8 pm on Monday night approximately three miles east of Perkins, Oklahoma.
A crash report from the Oklahoma Highway Patro said that Ferrari attempted to pass three vehicles in a no-passing zone and finally hit the eastbound vehicle before overturning. Furthermore, the report said that Ferrari hit the vehicle “an unknown number of times”.
Fortunately, the 56-year-old driver in the other vehicle was not injured. However, Ferrari was transported to Oklahoma City’s OU Medical Center via helicopter.
About the injury, AJ Ferrari Sr., his father, wrote on Facebook that Ferrari has fluid in his lungs that is “affecting his oxygen level and causing bruising and internal bleeding. He also said that if you saw the car and AJ, you would know it was a miracle.
The news about the accident was made public at around 8:30 pm by Ferrari Sr. through a Facebook post that requested everyone to pray for his son and that he had no details except knowing the fact that Ferrari got into a bad wreck.
Later, Ferrari’s younger brother, Anthony, provided an update saying that nothing is broken on him and that Ferrari will be okay.
